Colour effects of each pigment, inside the cottage, tune in to the mirror like reflections of the sea. Each window frames the changing seascapes - fishermen, emptying their lobster pots from their small boats on a sea as smooth as glass; in summer, ocean ripples become myriads of tiny prisms refracting sunlight in all directions: in winter, wild crashing waves dramatically reminding of the Atlantic’s shear power and vastness. Artists were inspired and painted here. It’s a different world . From the pretty garden you feel you could almost reach over and touch St. Michael’s Mount and paddle your feet in the bay. To the east, the coastal path winds its way to deserted sandy coves fringed with wild flowers, where seals loiter in the surf. To the west, is the ancient town’s small harbour where the ferryboat collects its passengers and takes them across the bay to St. Michael’s Mount when the causeway is covered by the tide.
